Darlene S. Stolp, 89, of South Roxana, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.
She was born on March 11, 1925, the daughter to the late Walter T. and Alma M. (Dare) Surface.
Darlene married John A. Stolp in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a member of the Germantown Hills Baptist Church in Germantown Hills for 18 years. Darlene was also a member for 35 years at the 1st Baptist Church of Roxana. She was a member of the N.A.R.F.E. She made quilts and donated them to the Women’s Missions Fellowship. Darlene enjoyed quilting, gardening, Bible reading, watching birds and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet and her husband, Mike Rea, of California and Dorothea Stolp of Peoria; a sister, Donna Carter of South Roxana; and a niece, Faye Carter of South Roxana.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Michael Rea and the Rev. Stark will officiate.
Graveside service will be at the Parkview Cemetery in Peoria Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Committee for 1st Baptist Church in Roxana in her name.
