David James Apperson, 51, of Granite City, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 15, 1963, in Granite City, the son to John William and Virginia E. (nee Rector) Apperson.
David was a graduate of Granite City High School South and San Francisco Culinary School. He lived in San Francisco, Calif., for 20 years, Saudi Arabia two years and New Orleans two years. David was a world traveler, great thinker, avid disc golf player, and loved cooking. He worked as a chef at Washington University in St. Louis and was also a life member of the Society American Magicians.
He was a wonderful son, brother and a kind soul.
He is survived by both parents, John William and Virginia E. (nee Rector) Apperson of Granite City; brother, Gary Todd (Andrea) Apperson of Maryville; two nieces, Gabrielle and Eliza; aunt, Elinor (nee Rector) Snelson; aunt, Glenda (nee Rector) and uncle, Gary Warnhoff; uncle, Bud, and aunt, Judy Apperson; and many cousins.
Cremation service entrusted to Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City.
The family will have a party for David starting at 2 p.m. with a Stage Show, The Life & Times of David, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at the Granite City Masonic Lodge, 1948 Cleveland Ave., Granite City.
