David James Briggs, 50, of Granite City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born on March 19, 1965, in East St. Louis, a son of the late Alan James “Jim” and Karen Lee (Boyles) Briggs.
David was a self-employed blacksmith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was an accomplished sculptor. David was known as a “tech geek” for his love of computers and enjoyed reading comic books. David will be remembered for his unique personality and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his daughters, Nikki Briggs and (Daniel Krantz) of Granite City, Samantha and (Thomas) Williamson of Granite City, and Alex Briggs of Granite City; stepdaughter, Crystal and (Alex) Moe of Granite City; two grandchildren; brothers, Christopher and (Andrea) Briggs of Granite City, and Sean and (Heather) Briggs of Granite City; and sister, Stefanie and (Scott) Pikesley of Granite City.
In celebration of his life, a memorial gathering will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Memorials are suggested to the ALS Association.
