David M. Foster, 67, of Wood River, passed away at 10:08 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born in Alton on Jan. 6, 1948, he was the son of Beverly (Dooling) Foster of Alton and the late Tom Foster.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, receiving a Bronze Star while serving there from June of 1969 to February of 1969. He was a member of the Wood River VFW Post 2859 and East Alton American Legion Post 794.
David worked in the Athletic Department for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for 30 years before retiring.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Kevin (LeeAnn) Foster of Chesterton, Ind., and Bill Foster (Jo Aldridge) of Asheville, N.C.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, in Woodland Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by East Alton Legion Post 794.
