David Ronald “Coop” Cooper, 64, of Granite City, passed away at 10:39 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born May 8, 1951, in Granite City, a son of the late Clarence Ronald and Jacqueline Grayson (Kaiser) Cooper. “Coop” worked for the City of St. Peters, Mo., with years of dedicated service as an inspector. He was a dedicated member of the Granite City Eagles Aerie No. 1126, where he had served as a past president and chaplain. He was also a faithful member of the Granite City VFW Post No. 1300 Men’s Auxiliary, where he enjoyed helping with the fish fry. He loved his days of fishing, was an avid football enthusiast and also enjoyed watching baseball. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and many friends.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William Craig and Anna Marie Cooper of Brighton; sister and brother-in-law, Leann and Phil Mercier of Granite City; nephew, Jake Mercier; great-niece, Sierra Cooper; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Ronelle Cooper; and a nephew, David William Cooper.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until time of an Eagle service, followed by a memorial service, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with the Rev. Byron Wampler officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
