David Wimberly, 54, of Sorento, formerly of Granite City, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
He was born April 1, 1961, in Salem, a son of Herbert “Keith” Wimberly and Doris (Barrall) Wimberly.
On Aug. 4, 1995, David married Judy, the love of his life, in Belleville. David was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, watching old westerns and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, whom he adored. David loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David was preceded in death by his father, Herbert “Keith” Wimberly.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Brandt of Sorento; dear mother, Doris Wimberly of Granite City; loving children, Rob (Elizabeth) Wimberly of Granite City, Nicholas (Dray) Wimberly of Granite City, and Patrick (Ashley) Brandt of O’Fallon; proud grandfather to Megan, Cody and Collin Humphreys, Lola McDowell, Addie, and Phil and Gracie Brandt; dear sister, Brenda (Gary) Taylor of Granite City; nieces, Amanda “Amy” (Joe) Kremers of Granite City and Erica (Brett) Taylor of Granite City; great- nephews and a great-niece, Dakota, Rhilye, Bradyn and Bentlee; extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City.
In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at Irwin Chapel with Pastor Jerry Leibold officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon.
The family would like to invite friends to the Venice Social Club in Granite City after the graveside service for a luncheon.
Memorial donations may be given to the family and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
