Dean M. Terry, 88, of Edwardsville, passed away on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at his home.
He was born April 4, 1926, in Mulberry Grove, Ill., the son of the late Melvin and Thelma (Neathery) Terry.
Dean married June Chamness on Sept. 9, 1944, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives.
He served his country in the U.S. Marines during World War II from 1944 to 1946 as a PFC at Okinawa and Guadalcanal.
Dean was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Carpenter and liked hunting. He worked for Union Electric as an Instrument Technician for 18 years until he retired in 1989.
He is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, and one daughter, Roger Dean and Monika Terry of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Lee and Joan Terry of Rosewood Heights, Kenneth Wayne and Nancy Terry of Munford, Tenn., Johnny Robert Terry of Rockford, Ill., Diana Lynn Truman of Osceola, Iowa, and Darryl Glenn and Lisa Terry of Edwardsville; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor James Lee officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in Carpenter.
