Deliah “Lila” E. Sunderland
Deliah “Lila” E. Sunderland, 96, of Godfrey, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
She was born Jan. 3, 1918, in Alton, the daughter of the late E. P. and Grace (Yenney) Shelton.
She married Lee Alan Ford in Alton; he passed away in April of 1959. She then married Levi Sunderland in Alton; he passed away in January 1980.
Lila was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Alton. She enjoyed church activities, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Joan Ford of Wood River; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Schreiber of Alton; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Bradley Ford, Beth and Jason Whipple, Brian and Julie Schreiber, Christie Schreiber, Jeff Schreiber, Mark and Patty Ford and Janice and Tim Brooks; 14 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Ford of Godfrey; one sister-in-law, Virginia Shelton of Godfrey and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Victor and John Ford; a grandson, Robert Ford; a sister, Hazel Lobsinger; one brother, Howard Shelton and a daughter-in-law, Muriel Ford.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton with the Rev. Steve Barrett officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto.
