Delores F. Joplin, 76, of Granite City, passed away at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born Nov. 8, 1938, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Herman and Beatrice (Garris) O’Dell. She married Earl L. Joplin on June 23, 1984, in Jonesboro, Ga., and he survives.
Delores was a dedicated and loving homemaker, who cherished tending to her home and enjoyed her days of working with crafts, cooking and sewing. She was a member of Women’s Auxiliary of the Granite City American Legion Post No. 113 and the VFW Post No. 1300. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by two children, Jesse Keller of Granite City and Jeannie and her husband, Chris DeMage, of New Baden; four grandchildren, Jamie Jackson, Lindsay Montelongo, Dakota Keller and Josh Demage; one great-grandchild, Jayda Jackson; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Irene and Richard Lux of O’Fallon, Beverly and Dennis Smith of Granite City and Kimberly O’Dell of Pontoon Beach; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Weston; and a brother, William O’Dell.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, with the Rev. Henry Crippen officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
