Donald Newton Harris, 75, of Granite City, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born May 21, 1939, in Lamar, Ind., the son to Forrest and Daisy L. (nee: Harris) Harris.
He married Linda Kay Hape on May 20, 1956 in Shawneetown.
Donald was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and then retired from Shell Oil in Wood River after 21 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Wendy (Robley) Mcintosh of O’Fallon and Melanie (Terry) Russell of Granite City; son, Bryan Harris of Granite City; daughter in spirit, Therese (Robert) Baker of Florissant, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Marion (Brenda) Harris of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Joyce Hayes of Elmer, La., and Dorothy (William) Effinger of Wadesville, Ind.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, David Harris; and brother-in-law, Laverne Hayes.
