Donald R. Haddix, 63, of Granite City, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Stearns Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., a son to the late William A. and Genevieve H. (Hargis) Haddix Sr.
Donald was a longtime computer technician at Macy’s and was a member of the Granite City Eagles Lodge. In his free time, Don enjoyed bowling, where he achieved several perfect games. He loved to play golf at Legacy Golf course, where he made a hole in one and he loved a good game of softball. Don had a special love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kind heart and the many special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his sweetheart and best friend, Lanette (Squires) Haddix; his children, Jill and (Ryan) Relleke of Granite City, Donnie and (Mary) Haddix of Granite City, Ryan and (April) Haddix of Granite City; grandchildren, Emily Haddix, Abbey Haddix, Lucas Haddix, Tyler Theis, Hadley Relleke and Mila Haddix; brother, Larry and (Bobbie) Haddix of Granite City; and sisters, Linda and (Jeff) Howe of Marietta, Ga., and Peggy and (Tom) Hillmer of Edwardsville.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, William A. Haddix Jr.
In celebration of his life, a memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. with Pastor Karla Frost officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
