Donna M. Wardein, 70, of Alton, passed away at 4:42 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1944, in White Hall, daughter of the late John F. and Theadoisa (Crain) Rice.
She married Robert “Bob” L. Wardein at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on June 10, 1967. He passed away on Aug. 19, 2014.
Donna was employed at several fast food restaurants throughout the area, then working at Laidlaw as a monitor for the bus lines. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, involved with her husband in the marriage encounters group and the daughters of Isabella. She loved to spend time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Debbie Wardein of Alton, Teri and Scott Westbrook of Alton, Patti and Leon Huntsman of Huntingdon, Tenn., Lisa Wardein of Alton and Michael and Jessica Wardein of East Alton; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Barb Homer of Virginia.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. John Luong O.M.V. as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
