Doris Ann Anderson, 87, of Granite City and formerly of Collinsville for more than 40 years, passed away at 4:28 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Edwardsville.
She was born Nov. 12, 1926, in East St. Louis, a daughter of the late Harold and Zellma L. (Riddle) Skeen.
She married Leonard D. “Andy” Anderson on July 23, 1944, in Temple, Texas, and he passed away on Dec. 23, 1993.
Doris was a member of St. Peter Evangelical United Church of Christ, where she was active with the choir, Afternoon Guild, Church Council and the Church Woman United. She was also a member of the Bellecomers Card Club, H.O.P.E. Widows Luncheon group, Daughters of the Nile, Lady Jesters of the Shrine, Ainad Belles, Masters Voice Choir and had served as a past president of the Elkettes. She enjoyed her days of traveling and had a special love of flowers. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Ronda Anderson of Granite City; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Michael Bollmann of Red Bud; four grandchildren, Colin and Sarah Anderson of Collinsville, Cody Anderson of Chicago, Emily Bollmann of Red Bud and Lindsey Bollmann of Red Bud; special friend, Omer Schaefer of Granite City; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
