Doris June Dilday, 81, of Granite City, passed away at 12:22 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born June 17, 1934, in Lesterville, Mo., a daughter of the late Joe and Cora (Camden) Owensby. She married Woodrow C. Dilday on July 3, 1954 in Ellis Grove, Ill., and he passed away on July 10, 2014. Doris was a dedicated homemaker and had worked in her earlier years in banking in St. Louis and also for Charles Todd Uniform in Granite City. She graduated from high school in Chester, Ill., and was a member of the West 22nd Street Baptist Church in Granite City. She enjoyed her days of cooking and watching old movies. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Vicki Dilday of Granite City and Durand Dilday of Granite City; four grandchildren, Jeffrey L. (Kelley) Dilday Jr., Jennifer L. Isreal, Ashley Nicole Bain and Suzanne Huer; four great-grandchildren, Derek Spink, Kiera Spink, Cody Huer and Kailey Bielman; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherry Lynn Dilday; and eight brothers and sisters.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, where funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, with the Rev. Keith Braddock officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the West 22nd Street Baptist Church and may be accepted at the funeral home.
