Dorothy Geneva Tite, 91, of East Alton, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at her residence.
Born in Equality, Ill., on Dec. 5, 1924, she was the daughter of Steve and Elizabeth (Wargel) Bradley.
She married Samuel B. Tite on March 14, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. He died Nov. 3, 1969.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, making quilts for family members and her friends at the Alton Belle.
She is survived by a son, Ivan (Judy, who was like another daughter) Tite; five daughters, Veva (Jim) Watts, Wilda (Roger) Phillips, Elizabeth Whitehead, Verva Kizer and Judy (Jeff) Robinson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Bradley; two sisters, Frances Sieverding and Marcella (Don) Elders; special niece, Rosie Tite; numerous nieces and nephews; dear neighbors, Marvin and Sharon; and beloved dog, Tinker Bell.
Preceding in death were her parents; husband; two children in infancy, Samuel R. and Sharon S. Tite; three brothers, John, Bob and Valentine “Pal” Bradley; sister, Teresa Tite; sons-in-law, Clint Whitehead, Tom Kizer; and great-granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Whitehead.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River and will continue from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016. Pastor Steve Doering and Brittany Gilleland will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
