Dorothy L. Hayes-Parkinson, 88, of Granite City, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Granite Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
She was born April 3, 1927, in Dickson, Tenn., a daughter of the late William Jasper and Katie (Lewis) Lee.
Dorothy was retired from the Dietary Department at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City and took great pride in raising her family. She will be remembered for her giving heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her children, Charles and (Ginger) Hayes of Minnesota, Bill Hayes of Granite City, Phil and (Pat) Hayes of Granite City, Kay and (Gary) Reese of California, Betsy Hayes of California, Jeff Hayes of California, and Robin Hayes of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Lovelle Shelton of Michigan.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her second husband, Edward W. Parkinson; brothers, Vernon Lee and Clifford Lee; and daughter-in-law, Sherrilyn Hayes.
In celebration of her life, friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Don Stratton officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City.
