Dorothy M. Leppert, 79, of West Alton, passed away at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born on July 14, 1935 in St. Charles, Mo., the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Schmidt) Mennemeier.
She married Eugene “Gene” Leppert in Dubuque, Iowa, in July 1956 and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2013.
Dorothy loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, flowers and baking cookies.
She is survived by three daughters and spouses, Linda (Tim) Wunderlich of Godfrey, Peggy (Bob) Wegiel of Warwick, R.I., Penny Leppert of West Providence, R.I.; three sons and spouses, Michael (Linda Ann) Leppert of Buckeye, Ariz., Kenneth (Dawn) Leppert of St. Louis County, Larry Leppert of West Alton, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-law, George and Thelma Mennemeier of West Alton, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Splender of Belize, Honduras; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mennemeier of West Alton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Frank Mennemeier.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, with Pastor Matthew Roeglin officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bethalto.
