Dorothy Mae Seifrit, 95, of Alton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at her home with her daughter by her side.
She was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Fort Morgan, Colo., the daughter of Harold and Eleanor (Rosenberg) Auchstatter. She married Clarence Seifrit on April 8, 1938, in Fairmont, W.V., and he preceded her in death June 3, 2010.
Mrs. Seifrit had worked for Firestone as a secretary for six years during WWII. She had worked for Owen IL in Fairmont, W.V., as a secretary as well. She had performed volunteer work with the Red Cross for many years, was active with the League of Women Voters, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Dorothy enjoyed going out with the girls for lunch and discussing politics.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Seifrit) Nickel of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Alton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Larry Nickel, David and Michelle Seifrit and Stacy Baca; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Laura Seifrit; and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Clarence, she is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, John Bruner; and son, Jim Seifrit.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Burial rites will be provided by the Eastern Star at 6 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Pate officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.
