Edna “Edie” L Summers, 69, of Alton, passed away at 8:14 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on April 9, 1945, the daughter of Arvel and Mamie (Hancock) Baker.
On Dec. 12, 1991, she married John Summers in Cottage Hills. He survives.
Edna was a member of the East Alton Assembly of God Church, and loved spending time with her family and her parrot, Barney; and dog, Bernie.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by her mother, Mammie; a stepdaughter and her husband, Dawn and Roger Lawrence of East Alton; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Brandon Lawrence; a brother, Raymond and his wife, Phillis Baker; two sisters, Jennetta McNealy and Lataua and her husband, Les Applegate; a nephew, Todd and his wife, Jessica Applegate; and two great-nephews, Austin and Avery Applegate.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Stacy Murphy; and a sister, Kathy Williams.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with the Rev. Timothy Keller officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
