Edward Cremeens, 87, of Granite City, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Granite Nursing and Rehab Center, Granite City. He was born Feb. 1, 1929, in St. Louis, a son of the late Orville and Mabel (Blackledge) Cremeens.
On April 10, 1946, Edward married Gladys Cochran, the love of his life, in St. Louis. Edward was a faithful and dedicated member of the First Pentecostal Church in Troy. He was a Teamster truck driver for 33 years, retiring in 1986 from Teamsters Local 600. After retiring, Edward worked for Walmart in Collinsville for 16 years.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, going to church and serving the lord. Edward will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Cremeens; and a sister, Wanda Snyder.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Gladys Cremeens of Granite City; loving children, David Cremeens and wife, Elizabeth Mohrman of Belleville, and Brenda Jo (Fred) Coffin of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; proud grandfather to Cary (Alison) Cremeens of Granite City, and Chris (Tara) Cremeens of Hardyville, Ky.; proud great-grandfather to Copeli, Daniel and Caitlin; dear sister, Rose Schellhardt; extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City.
In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, with Pastor Brian Bradshaw and Pastor Howard Bradshaw officiating. Interment will be in Buck Road Cemetery, Glen Carbon.
Memorial donations may be given to Spina Bifida Association and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
