Edward O. Hormann Sr., 77, of Alton, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Iuka, the son of the late Leonard and Freeda (Wyse) Hormann.
He was formerly married to Mary (Way) Hormann on Sept. 3, 1960. She passed away on Feb. 9, 2011.
Edward was self-employed as a handyman throughout the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family. The St. Louis Cardinals and being outdoors were some of his greatest interests.
He was survived by six children and their spouses, Edward and Marie Hormann Jr. of Staunton, William Hormann of East Alton, Barbara and Gerald Meyer of Staunton, Leonard and Jennifer Hormann of Alton, Warren and Stephanie Hormann of Bunker Hill and Mary Hormann of Staunton; one brother, Leonard “Sonny” Hormann of Granite City; two sisters, Joyce Pyykola of Carlyle and Rosemary Huffstedler of Fairview Heights; several grand and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Dennis and James Robert Hormann; two brothers, Charles and William Hormann; and a sister, Norma Oshia.
Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
