Edward Walter Daech, 71, of Granite City, passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at his home.
He was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Granite City, the son of the late Walter “Corky” and Antoinette (Petrillo) Daech. He married Reidyth D. (Mathenia) Daech on Feb. 14, 1998, at Harvest Community Church in Pontoon Beach and she survives. Ed retired in 2008 from Lee Deering Electrical in St. Louis after eight years of dedicated service as an electrical estimator. The Vietnam War veteran proudly served his country with the United States Air Force with 10 years of service. Ed was a dedicated and faithful Sunday school teacher and Royal Ranger leader for many years and was a member of Harvest Community Church and former member of Tri-City Assembly of God Church. He loved his days of fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward W. and Tammy Daech of Nashville, Tenn., and Drew and Angel Johnson of Granite City; four grandchildren, Noah and Tabitha Daech and Riley and Annabel Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Tri-City Assembly of God Church, 3400 Maryville Road in Granite City with the Rev. Roy Boyer and the Rev. Barry Shepherd officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
