Elaine R. Zelenka, 79, of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Madison and Granite City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015.
She was born Sept. 2, 1936, a daughter to the late Pete and Margaret (Smolar) Fecurka.
Elaine was a lifelong homemaker and mom who loved to spend time with her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her daughters, Ellen Wallace of Granite City, Cynthia Zelenka of St. Peters, Mo., Michele and (Matt) Tapling of Lincoln, Neb., Nicole and (James Golab) Zelenka of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren, Jessica and (Kevin) Elliott, Ted and (Lesley) Wallace, Jack Tapling, Ben Tapling, Caroline Golab, Lucy Golab, Vivian Golab; her great-grandchildren, Emma Elliott and Camden Elliott; sisters, Irene Schnefke and Janet Werner; and brother, Pete Fecurka.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Zelenka, whom she married May 4, 1957; her daughter, Elizabeth Zelenka; and a son-in-law, Joe Wallace.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1621 10th St. in Madison with Fr. Jason Stone officiating.
