Elizabeth “Liz” F. Vermillion, 90, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at her home in Godfrey.
Born June 29, 1924, in Omphgent Township, Ill., she was a daughter of Walter and Harriett (Drennan) Kaulen. She married Fredrick A. “Fritz” Vermillion Jan. 28, 1945 in Alton, and they were blessed with 67 years of marriage. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 2012. Liz was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton. She was an avid golfer and spent many of her years enjoying her family and doing the things she loved, including fishing, camping and gardening.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Henry) Martinez of Rosewood Heights and Sue Robeen of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kristie (Jasen) Shaw of Rosewood Heights, Matthew (Leslie) Martinez of Bethalto, Amanda Martinez of Wood River, and Amy and Jimmy Robeen, both of Lee’s Summit; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Kaulen of Bethalto; and two sisters, Sophia Wilson of Alton and Joyce Westbrook of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Alfred and Eugene Kaulen.
Visitation will be Friday, June 26, 2015 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon. The Rev. Randy Fischer will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
