Emma M. McGahan, 100, of Granite City passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born on April 9, 1915, in Madison, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Petras) Oldal.
Emma was a lifelong homemaker who loved to bowl and did so until she was 98. She was proud of the fact that she had her driver’s license and was still driving at the age of 100. Emma had a gentle heart and will be remembered for the love of her family and all the special times they shared together.
She is survived by and will be missed by her daughter, Ellen Fronabarger of Granite City; grandson, John and (Bridget) Fronabarger of Fenton, Mo.; granddaughter, Lisa Fronabarger of Sandoval; great-grandchildren, Lily, Nick, Amber and Anna; niece, Barb Oetken; and sister-in-law, Ruth McGahan.
In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence McGahan, whom she married on Feb. 24, 1945, and her sister, Marie Oetken.
Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
