Erma Cooperider, 91, of Wood River, passed away at 10:18 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on March 16, 1924, in Pleasant Hill, Ill., the daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha (Cloninger) Wintjen.
Survivors include one son, Gary Cooperider of Wood River; two granddaughters, Erica Riedisser and her husband, Jason, of Rosewood Heights, and Morgan Cooperider of St. Louis; two great-grandsons, Ethan Riedisser and Cooper Rider Riedisser; one sister, Dene Lopez of Alton; one brother, Gene Wintjen of Carrollton; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family.
She was formerly employed at Olin Corp. as a machine operator for 36 years prior to her retirement. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of East Alton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Cooperider, and one sister, Laverne Iler.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Burial will follow at Noble Cemetery in Otterville, Ill.
