Ethel S. Fouts, 93, of Granite City, died at 9:17 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born Jan. 7, 1921, in St. Louis, a daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Hennen) Pleimann.
She married Harold Leon Fouts on Jan. 14, 1942 in Louisville, Ky., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1979.
Ethel was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and enjoyed her earlier years of traveling, fishing and rollerskating. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Vickie Fouts of Granite City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Dominic Vespa of Riverton and Betty Ann and Leroy Welborn of Hollister, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Fouts, Emily Fouts, Greg Vespa, Tony Vespa, Chris Vespa, Brian Welborn, Michael Welborn and Andrew Welborn; several great- grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Pleimann; and a sister, LaVerne Gonzalez.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Monday, July 28, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 10 a.m. with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lemay, Mo.
