Eugenia E. Seibold, 95, of Granite City, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Stearns Nursing Rehab in Granite City. She was born April 16, 1919, in East St. Louis, the daughter to Oscar and Mary (nee: Stauder) Neigenfind.
Eugenia started in the working field at Union Starch, followed by Siebold’s Bakery. She later took to babysitting and volunteering at nursing homes and attending to family and friends in need of care. She touched many lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Jim) McCarthy of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Glenda Flowers of Granite City; five grandchildren, Kathy Abbett, Lynn Elledge and David Steward, all of Granite City, Maureen McCarthy of Atlanta, Ga., and Michael McCarthy of Denver, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Abbett, Katie Abbett and Dustin Elledge; and one great-great-grandson, Connor Abbett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Clayton Browning and Don Seibold; son, David (Barbara) Steward; seven sisters, Helen Roberts, Josephine Debevec, Violet Worley, Mabel Ryan, Velma Gray, Betty Rushing and Pauline Neigenfind; and one great-grandchild, Courtney Steward.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City. Wojstrom Funeral Home and Crematory entrusted with professional services.
