Everett Dewayne Young, 72, of Granite City, and formerly of Summersville, Mo., passed away at 2:59 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at his home.
He was born June 21, 1944 in Sacramento, Calif., a son of Wayne and Olive (Pitts) Young of Summersville, Mo. Everett married Geraldine (Golden) Young on Feb. 27, 1963, in Lowndes, Mo., and she survives. He retired in 2004 from Granite City Steel after over 40 years of dedicated service in the Glass Furnace as a steelworker. He loved his days of antiquing and was very talented with restoring furniture and other treasures. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Mary Young of Granite City and Shawn and Laura Young of Granite City; a grandson, Ryan Young of Granite City; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dean and Myrtle Young of Summersville and Ronnie Young of Summersville; other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Young.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon with the Rev. Mark Maynard officiating.
