Frank Costello, 86, of Wood River, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1929, in St. Louis, the son of the late Mitchell and Josephine (Castro) Castelli. Survivors include two daughters, three sons, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Larry Dalton of California; two brothers, Mariano Costello of St. Louis and Joseph Costello of Bethalto; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family and friends.
Frank was formerly employed at Granite City Steel for 32 years. He was the past Post Commander for the Granite City VFW Post 1300. Frank was a member of the American Legion Post No. 113 in Granite City. He was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son and two sisters.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Father James Flach will officiate. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
