Gary K. Chamberlain, 84, of Alton, passed away at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
He was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Alton, the son of Leslie W. and Edna Lucille (Tingley) Chamberlain.
He married Phyllis J. Graham in Alton on May 1, 1954. She survives.
Gary began his career as a service technician with Sears, Roebuck on Aug. 8, 1951, and retired on Aug. 8, 1993. He was a corporal of the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Germany at the time. Gary enjoyed riding motorcycles, helping others with repairs, refinishing furniture and sign painting, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dale Chamberlain of Brighton; a sister, Barbara Bachman of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Laura Chamberlain and significant other, John Kiser of Woodson Terrace, Mo., and Craig Chamberlain and significant other, Erica McCain of Alton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Chamberlain Jr.; and a sister, Judith Ann Chamberlain, in infancy.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military rites presented by the Alton VFW Post 1308.
