Gary Wayne Denton, 60, of St. Louis, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1956, in Cairo, Ill., a son of the late Hiliary H. Denton and the late Lula (Hutcherson) Heath. He was the owner and operator of Denton’s Florist in Paducah, Ky., for many years and had also designed for multiple floral shops through the years. He had also worked at Paducah Wooden Ware in Paducah and also was a dance instructor with the Ruth Johnson Dance Studio in Paducah. He was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis. His 60 years of life was filled with much love and laughter with family and friends. He had a passion of dancing, designing and interior decorating and always looked forward to decorating for the Christmas season. Gary was always joyful, providing and thinking of others, sharing of his family and friends, had a smile for everyone and everything and loved sharing a story. His beam of light and the love and special times shared will always be remembered.
He is survived by his loving partner, Jason Friederich of St. Louis; son, Hiliary Dean Denton of Paducah; grandson, Christian Dean Denton; sister and brother-in-law, Sherrie and John “Jay” McNall of Granite City; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Karen Denton of West Paducah, Ky.; nieces and nephews, Kim and Joe Catalano, David and Laurie Denton and Clint and Amanda Denton; many great-nieces; great-nephews; many special loving family beyond blood; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at Irwin Chapel 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, with a funeral service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Katie Hotze-Wilton officiating. Graveside services will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the New Blandville Cemetery in Blandville, Ky.
