Genevieve “Genny” Sizemore, 44, of Alton, went to be with the Lord after battling for many years with a rare blood disorder at 6:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1970, in Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of the late Stonie T. Sizemore and Alice L. (Howerton) Messer.
Genny was attending SIU College in Carbondale, working on a Judicial Degree prior to getting sick. She enjoyed crafts, shopping, cooking and especially loved playing with the Pugs.
She is survived by her mother and her spouse, Alice L. and Curtis Messer of Elkville; her lifelong companion of 20 years, Charles A. Rook of Alton; her second set of parents, Richard and Barbara Rook of Alton; a sister, Natalie Sizemore-Hunt of Alton; one niece; a great-niece and a special friend, Mike Lee of Alton.
She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Alton with the Rev. David Crowley officiating.
Burial will follow at the Brighton City Cemetery in Brighton.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help pay for the final expenses.
