Genevieve Kay “Jenny” Southward, 89, of Wood River, passed away at 8:17 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River.
Born Sept. 24, 1926, in Pearl, she was the daughter of Ernest and Lavina (Wagner) Stumbough.
A member of the Hartford Assembly of God Church, Jenny served as a longtime Sunday school teacher and VBS instructor and volunteer.
On Feb. 19, 1949, in Hartford, she married Harold E. Southward. He died in 2004.
Surviving are three daughters, Reynae Womack, Rynette Benton and Megan (Keith) Provance; seven grandchildren, James Womack, Craig Womack, Phillip Benton, Kyndal Norton, Ryan Provance, Garrett Provance and Jacob Provance; eight great-grandchildren, Boone, Audrey, Liam and Jose Womack, Nathan Watsek, Noah Norton, and Matthew and Dylan Benton; and a sister, Wreatha Grover.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Dwight Stumbough; and three sisters, Toy Rushton, Wanda Schmidt and Utha Hatcher.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Hartford Assembly of God Church. Pastor David Fields will officiate. Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
