George E. Dilday, 78, of Granite City, passed away at 6:24 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, in Granite City.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1936, in Cora, the son of the late George Calvin Dilday and Mary Marjorie Krug.
He married Charlotee R. Taylor Dilday on July 1, 1968, in Venice. She survives.
George was an Army Veteran-United Transportation Union. He was employed by Terminal RRA as a switchman for 40 years retiring in 1997. George was an avid sports fan and always watched the Cardinals, loved horse ranching.
Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Steve Watson of Granite City; granddaughter, Jessica Watson; grandson, Nicholas Watson; sister-in-law, June Dilday of Granite City; many nieces and nephews with a special thank you to Sonja, Mandee and John Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Opal (Gerald) Kaiser, Marie (Elmer) Jeanquenat and Wynona (Ardell) Wall; and brothers, Ralph “Jack” (Juanita) Dilday, Woodrow Dilday, Russell Dilday, William Calvin (Margaret) Dilday and William Samuel (Joyce) Dilday.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home.
