Geraldine “Geri” Mae Hartman, 77, of Wood River, passed away peacefully at 6:35 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Bethalto Care Center with her family by her side.
She was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Alton, the daughter of Paul and Ada Elizabeth (Belcher) Pollard Sr.
She worked out of her home as a childcare provider for several children. She loved the children she cared for over the years. Previously she was an apartment building manager and had worked at Walmart. She enjoyed working in her yard and bike riding.
Geri is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Romona and Paul Smith of Rosewood Heights and Victoria Fischer of Washington, Penn.; a son and his husband, Robert “Rowdy” Allan Hartman Jr. and John Kamp of Alton; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Tiffany) Smith, Matthew Smith, Jacob Smith, Tonya Hartman, John Franklin, Rebecca Meyer, Michel Maberry and Shawn Ancona; six great-grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Janny K. Baldwin, Darlene Fox, Beverly (Bob) Randolph, Greg Pollard, Paula (Kevin) Haenni and Michelle Newgent; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lenard Hartman; three sisters, Alfreda Miller, Louise Smith and Hazel Crandell; and five brothers, Paul Pollard Sr., Roy Pollard, Bill Pollard, Vinnie Pollard and an infant brother.
Private family services are planned.
