Grace Marie Lehn, 88, of Granite City, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born July 25, 1926, in Granite City, a daughter of the late John L. and Florence (Adams) Tempo. She married William J. Lehn Jr. on Sept. 26, 1959, in Granite City and he passed away on Dec. 5, 1983.
She graduated from Granite City High School in June 1944 and was a 1975 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Business, where she received her bachelor of science in business. She retired from Granite City Steel after many years of dedicated service as the Executive Secretary to Mr. Russell Solomon. She was a member of the Granite City Steel Woman’s Club and enjoyed her years of bowling on their league. She was a longtime faithful member of Central Christian Church in Granite City. She was very devoted to her family and enjoyed helping her sister, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her loving sister, June E. Baumann of Granite City; two nephews, David Baumann and wife, Marilyn, of Granite City and Kenneth Baumann of Granite City; one niece, Linda and her husband, Brian Chudd, of Lake Villa, Ill.; two great-nieces, Lisa and her husband, David Bringer, and Alyssa Baumann; two great-nephews, Kevin and his wife, Sarah Chudd and Gregory Baumann; a great-great-nephew and niece, Kyle and Molly Chudd; other extended family and many friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Baumann, and many special aunts and uncles.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, with the Rev. Derrell Brame officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
