Grant Wade Douglas, 53, of Granite City, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born June 16, 1961, in Granite City, a son of Ellen A. (Jones) Douglas of Maryville and the late Jack Douglas.
He married Vicky Nance Douglas on June 29, 1991, at the First Baptist Church in Granite City and she survives.
Grant worked many years as a computer specialist and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Granite City. He was a talented artist and was very creative as a cartoonist and a gifted singer. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and cherished his days of fishing. He will be remembered for the love and special times spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa Schleis of Carbondale and Shae Douglas of Granite City; grandson, Benjamin Fendrick of Granite City; sister, Jacky Nemeth of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Mary Anne Douglas of Trinidad, Colo.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Jill Nance of Waterloo and Terri and Jess Finck of Granite City and Michael Nance of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jake and Corky Nance; a brother-in-law, Joseph Nemeth and sister-in-law, Angela Finck.
In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with his family and friends as celebrants.
