Gregory John Turnbough, 64, of Pontoon Beach, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family following a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 8, 1951, in St. Louis to the late Edith (Haynes) Swain and John Turnbough.
On Jan. 28, 2000, he and Sherry J. Gower were married in Edwardsville. She survives in Pontoon Beach.
Greg worked for Koppers in East St. Louis, manufacturing railroad tracks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tobie Turnbough (Craig Fitzgerald) of St. Louis and Jennifer (Chuck) Benscoter of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two sons, Jeremy (Jontea) Ruch of De Soto, Mo., and Eddie Ray (Viviane) Edwards of Park Hills, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Bruce, Billy, Doug (Sissy) and Rodger (Paula) Turnbough; three sisters, Debbie (Bob) Harbraugh, Deona (Joe) Chiappa and Diane Turnbough; and a dear friend, Jerry “Wolf” Harrison.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Stacie Turnbough and Lisa Slayton; a brother, Jeffrey Turnbough; and a sister, Margie Stewart.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery in Doe Run, Mo.
