Harriet Belle Patton, 92, of Granite City, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at her home, with her loving family by her side.
Harriet was born on Aug. 6, 1924, in Berkeley, Mo., a daughter of the late Harry Joseph Kramer and Grace Naomi (Elliff) Kramer.
On June 6, 1946, Harriet married Robert James Patton, the love of her life, in Granite City, and Robert passed away on Aug. 20, 2002. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City. Harriet was a proud homemaker and she enjoyed playing the organ, painting and making crafts. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Harriet loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Harriet was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Mae Powers; her brother, Norman Joseph Kramer; and by one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn MacKenzie.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon MacKenzie; dear sister, Naomi Nail of Jennings, Mo.; proud grandmother to Heather Hinson, Scott MacKenzie and Galen MacKenzie; proud great-grandmother to Christopher Mackenzie, Alexandra Hinson, Ryan Hinson, Hadley MacKenzie, Tristan MacKenzie, Ryleigh MacKenzie, Keria MacKenzie and Brayden MacKenzie; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City. In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the funeral chapel with her grandson Scott MacKenzie officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to BJC Hospice and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
