Hezzie W. Todd, 91, of Granite City, passed away at 12:43 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Athens, Ala., to the late William W. and Flora (Wooten) Todd.
On June 24, 1950, he and Ruth G. Simpson were married in Granite City. She preceded him in death Jan. 26, 2012.
Hezzie joined the Army in 1945, serving in WWII. He retired in 1965 and worked for Illinois American Water Co. until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Laborers Local No. 397.
He is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Wallace W. and Linda Todd of Lincolnton, N.C., and Gerald G. and Joan Todd of Collinsville; a daughter, Sarah Todd of Granite City; three grandsons, Kenneth, Christopher and David Todd; three great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Peggy Todd; and a sister, Oma Jackson, all of Athens, Ala.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Hill.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, where services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, with the Rev. Jeff Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
