Ida M. Mason, 92, of Maryville, formerly of Granite City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Liberty Village surrounded by her family.
Ida was born on April 10, 1923, in Welge, Ill., a daughter of the late Leo and Nora (Cottner) Wingerter.
Ida co-owned and helped her husband operate Commercial Shoe Repair in Granite City and was a member of Nameoki United Methodist Church.
She is survived by and will be missed by her daughter, Joyce and (Roger) Tracy of Granite City; grandson, Brent and (Stephanie) Tracy of Granite City; great-granddaughter, Alexis Tracy; and great-grandsons, Ryan and Nathan Webb.
In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Lee Mason, whom she married on July 2, 1941; her brother, Jody Wingerter; and her sisters Edna Friend, Margaret Beasley, Alma Wingerter, Freida Garbin and Ann Kunick.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of Ida’s life, her burial will take place first at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Fairland Cemetery in Maryville. Then the family has invited friends to attend her services following the burial at 10:30 a.m. at Nameoki United Methodist Church, 1900 Pontoon Road in Granite City, with Pastor Mike Rayson officiating. Memorials are suggested to the church.
