Irma Margaret Picker, 87, of St. Louis, formerly of Granite City, passed away at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at the Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra.
She was born June 29, 1928, in Granite City, the daughter of the late William Henry Fred and Henrietta Pauline (Kahle) Branding. Irma had many years of service as a nursing home administrator and registered nurse. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City. She had volunteered for the Veterans Administration and had volunteered her time with the Mayo Clinic reaching out to El Salvador and Honduras. She had also served as a 4-H leader through the years and had a special love of horses. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman LeRoy Picker; and a brother, Norman Branding. She is survived by a daughter, Susan; granddaughter, Sandra; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Dakota; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a graveside service was held Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City. The Rev. Karla Frost officiated. Memorials may be made to the St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City, www.irwinchapel.com.
