Jacqueline E. Poppe, 82, of Glen Carbon, died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville.
She was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Edwardsville, the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (Pester) Cooper. Jacqueline married George F. Poppe on Sept. 4, 1953, in Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death Nov. 13, 2007. Jacqueline worked at AT&T & Ameritech, first as an operator and then as a secretary.
She is survived by one son, Eric Poppe and wife, Pam, of Collinsville; one daughter, Georgette Orman and husband, Jeff, of Edwardsville; one granddaughter, Jennifer Marquardt and husband, Philip, of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Adeline Wenger; three stepgrandchildren, Shaun, Clint and Derek Stinnett; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, D.J. and Riley Stinnett.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Cooper; and two sisters, Mary Rombach and Florence Flannery.
Jacqueline served in the U.S. Army WAC during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers. There will be no visitation or service and she will be cremated according to her wishes. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date. The family requests memorials the Friends of the Wildey in care of Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.
