James “Larry” Baumhardt, 71, of Granite City, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Larry was born on July 8, 1943, in Polar Bluff, Mo., a son to the late Leo and Dorothy Virginia (Marlar) Baumhardt McCallister. Larry had worked for General Motors Corporation in the production of their Corvette. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and in his free time he loved to ride his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his kind heart and the many special times he shred with family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Cynthia (Vaughn) Baumhardt, whom he married on Oct. 9, 1982; his daughters, Tonya and (Todd) Perotka of Tomball, Texas, Lindy and (Stacy) Vaughn of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Kenneth McCallister of Granite City; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdad, George McCallister; and his brother, Doug McCallister.
In celebration of Larry’s life, friends may gather on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville. Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
