James F. Menzie, 68, of Alton, passed away at 6:13 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1947, in Carrollton, the son of Charles and Jessie (Ballard) Menzie.
He married Barbara Williams on Nov. 5, 1966, and she preceded him death on June 15, 2015.
James loved spending time with his family and going to visit with friends at the Wood River Donut Shop, playing softball and attended 25 years at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
He is survived by two children and their spouses, Tina and Thomas Gegg of Alton, and James F. and Maria “JoLie” Menzie of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Jean (Eddie) Boker of Jerseyville, Debbie (Bobby Jo) Dean of Jerseyville and Sandy Williams of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brandon Menzie; a brother, Bruce Menzie; and a sister, Barbara Scoggins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, with Pastor George Daubman officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
