James L. Potter, 62, of Mitchell, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1953, in St. Louis; a son to the late Clint Potter Sr.
James was an electrical worker for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 309. In his free time, James enjoyed being outside, where he bow-hunted and fished. He liked a good game of bowling, loved the St. Louis Cardinals and listening to KMOX talk radio. He will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Peggy (Williams) Potter; daughters, Kim and (William) Blevins of Mitchell, and Angela Potter of Pontoon Beach; son, Douglas and (Linda) Potter of Pontoon Beach; grandchildren, Sara, Ryan, Owen, Tyler and Liam; brothers, Clint and (Pauline) Potter Jr., and Michael and (Marilyn) Potter; sister, JoAnne Potter; mother, Doris (Bradshaw) Potter; and mother-in-law, Ruthan Williams.
In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Potter.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of his life, services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
