James O. Easley (J.O.E), 69, of Godfrey, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015, at his residence in Godfrey with his family by his side.
He was born in Jacksonville, Ill., on Nov. 1, 1945. He was the son of Albert and Rachel (Hall) Easley.
He married Cathy L. Smith on Dec. 3, 1966, in Cahokia. She survives.
Joe was in the U.S. Army for three years, then worked at Ford Motor Co. in Hazelwood, Mo., for 38 years. He was an accomplished carpenter, built several homes and helped many families and businesses with renovations.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by four daughters, Sherry G. and Tony Millitello of Belleville, Lori A. and Tim Schmittle of Albuquerque, N.M., Cathy Jo and David Dean of Glencoe, Mo., Lisa M. Easley and partner, Mark Clark, of Jerseyville; 11 grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Caleb, Paige, Dylan, Kyleigh, Jarrett, Wyatt, Mason, Ayden and Levi, due in August; a brother, Gerald L. and Joyce Easley of Hanna City; two sisters, Vivian F. and John C. Jr. Davis of Collinsville, Tammy J. and Billy J. Jr. Likes of Meredosia.; a sister-in-law, Rose E. and Eugene J. Stumpf of Batchtown.; two brothers-in-law, James L. and Debbie Smith of Smithton, William C. “Chuck” Jr. and Denise Smith of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his father and a sister, Laura Roeber.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral home in Godfrey.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Glenn Greenwood officiating.
Interment will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
