James P. Fitzmaurice, 64, of Alton, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 15, 1951, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Thomas P. and Margaret E. (Banfield) Fitzmaurice.
Jim was a handyman in the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon area for many years. He was a 1970 graduate of Edwardsville High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1971-1975.
He is survived by two sisters, Kay (Marc) Kamp of Edwardsville and Beth (Pete) Doherty of Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Mike (Lisa) Fitzmaurice of Gastonia, N.C.; one brother-in-law, Norm Nelson of St. Augustine, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Marcia Fitzmaurice of Dalton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Nelson; one brother, Larry Fitzmaurice; one niece, Marie Nelson; and one nephew, Patrick Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his beloved dog and faithful companion, Buddy.
