James R. Smith, 48, of Granite City passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, in Granite City.
He was born on July 8, 1966, in St. Louis, a son to the late Bobby Joe Smith and Judy Ann (Lannom) Horton.
James was a longtime appliance installer at J.B. Hunt Trucking in Earth City, Mo.
He was a member of Calvary Life Church in Granite City and had a passion for all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he spent with his family.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Mary “Mi Mi” (Warfield) Smith, whom he married on Sept. 23, 2011; daughters, Emily Smith of St. Charles, Mo., and Meghan Smith of St. Charles, Mo.; son, Eric Smith of Collinsville; brother, Andy Smith of Granite City; niece, Stephanie Jovi of Granite City; nephew, Andrew Smith of Granite City; stepdad, David Horton of Edwardsville; brother-in-law, Ed and (Debbie) Warfield of Kansas City, Mo., and many aunts, uncles and cousins from Clarksville, Tenn.
Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life services were held Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Calvary Life Church, 4650 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Mark Maynard officiating. Burial followed at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Life Church.
